Michelle Workman

About

I currently serve as Director of the Prison Education Program at the University of Saint Mary, where I provide leadership for degree programs delivered across four correctional facilities, including state, federal, and military institutions. My responsibilities include strategic planning, faculty development and supervision, academic assessment, compliance oversight, and the administration of externally funded research and programmatic initiatives.
I am the Principal Investigator for a national research grant awarded by the American Institutes for Research, examining student engagement, institutional practices, and predictors of continued enrollment in higher education within correctional settings. I have presented three times at the National Conference on Higher Education in Prison and serve on the Restorative Justice Committee of the American Correctional Association. My scholarly and professional interests center on correctional education policy, assessment-driven instructional design, trauma-informed pedagogy, restorative justice, and the development of scalable, evidence-based models for postsecondary education in prison.
