The mission of Centinela Youth Services, Inc. (CYS) is to strengthen families and communities and help build successful students and productive adults, leveraging the principles of restorative justice to empower peaceful conflict resolution.  We are committed to ending the institutionalized practices in schools and justice systems that are primarily responsible for maintaining the school-to-prison pipeline, and disproportionately impact youth of color. CYS operates a variety of innovative programs that are proven to increase student performance; reduce school dropout rates, gang involvement, youth violence and crime and ultimately help preserve families. CYS is leading innovation that is transforming youth justice in LA and the state, with a commitment to both youth development and serving victims of youth crime, while impacting systemic change to end the school to prison pipeline.  CYS is also providing leadership to critical juvenile justice reform in LA County, and as a result is growing rapidly.  CYS is seeking an energetic, creative, and dynamic leaders to manage outreach and relations with justice system partners. 

  

Compensation  

Compensation Range: $31.25 - $36.06 / hour 

This is a non-exempt full-time position, including benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are invited to participate in the company’s health benefits package after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period. Our benefits program includes select health plans and dental plans at 100% cost coverage (for employee only), vision insurance, time off accruals and holiday pay.  

 

Work location  

This position will split time between remote work and our Inglewood office.  

 

Schedule 

This is a full-time position. CYS has the following 9/80 work schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8am – 6pm. Friday, 8am – 5pm, with every other Friday off.  

 

Minimum Qualifications  

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field and at least five years of experience in program development and/or community outreach or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

General Functions and Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Program Director, the Restorative Justice Supervisor is responsible for quality and growth of the CYS Mediation Program. This includes the country’s leading evidence based Restorative Justice program - Victim Offender Restitution Services (VORS); the parent/teen conflict resolution program - Families Able to Resolve Situations (FARS), and the on-site school conflict resolution program - Mediation Office Hours (MOH); and CYS’s well-regarded transformative mediation and circle trainings. The position holds responsibility for community outreach to ensure a pipeline of referrals and elevating public awareness of CYS services. 

Other duties will include program quality oversight, and developing performance monitoring and improvement plans, as needed, and conduct outreach to partner community service agencies. 

Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Supervising restorative justice mediation staff and volunteers to continue their professional development in RJ and mediation best practices for high quality achievement of grant and mission goals, program fidelity and legal compliance. 

  • Track and report Key Performance Indicators for program outcomes on an annual basis, to be reviewed quarterly. 

  • Ensure volunteer recruitment and retention goals are met. 

  • Ensure goals for participant engagement and satisfaction are met. 

  • Ensure Mediation programs have the resources they need to serve throughout CYS service areas; this includes community partnership resources for mediation space and community service opportunities for youth. 

  • Staff supervision to include hiring, retention, clear work instructions, monitoring and support of work quality, conducting regular performance evaluations, developing performance improvement plans, coaching, mentoring and training. 

  • Responsible for CYS performing well as a partner in the County’s Dispute Resolution Program; Attend quarterly meetings, review and submit reports on time, meeting grant objectives for case numbers, training delivery and volunteer engagement. 

  • Manage achievement of grant goals for other funding sources, including reporting requirements. 

  • In collaboration with the School and Justice Transformation Specialists, maintain collaborative relationships with assigned referral agency sources to monitor and control the continued flow of new program referrals and monitor effective delivery of service. 

  • Utilize Salesforce, data tracking spreadsheets, and other data sources to regularly review key program performance data points to ensure achievement of program outcomes and quality objectives. Regularly review and recommend adjustments in program services to meet clients’ needs. 

  • Gather statistical information as directed/requested, participate in internal and external audit; prepare and submit timely reports (i.e. Board meeting report, grant reports, etc.) 

  • Work with Program Director to develop, plan and implement strategies to ensure program fidelity to Restorative Justice principles and to expand the range of community needs this department can meet with RJ services. 

  • Represent CYS Restorative Justice programs in County and community meetings, and professional associations. 

  • Help give intellectual leadership to our agency-wide strategies based on research in the field of Restorative Justice and the juvenile justice system. 

  • Work with other members of the team to ensure successful communication and coordination with the CYS Diversion team. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent track record in bringing projects to full implementation. 

  • Project management experience and use of data/software tools to manage and monitor workflow. 

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills. 

  • Ability to connect well with internal and external stakeholders across programs and departments. 

  • Ability to work independently and as a team. 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:  

  • This position is a hybrid position and requires regular presence in the Inglewood office and at offsite locations in and around Los Angeles County. 

  • May require spending most of the day walking, standing, sitting, and regularly driving back and forth to off-site locations. 

  • Significant periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. 

  • Duties of this position may require driving to and from locations throughout Los Angeles County. Therefore, applicants must possess a valid California driver’s license, have use of a motor vehicle and be able to provide evidence of automobile liability insurance. 

  • Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory review of the employee's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). CYS participates in the California DMV Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program for pre-employment purposes and ongoing MVR updates during employment, as permitted by law.
